Collaboration with Mini Monsters

Capal Samsudin is a children’s book revolving around themes of friendship, forgiveness and perseverance. A collaboration
with Mini Monsters, the story was written by Rilla Melati while the illustrations were done by Hairul Latiff.

As the first book of a festive family series, the illustration style and art direction will set the tone for the rest of the books. In order to create an authentic Asian context, much research was done to identify elements such as the character’s clothing and the shop settings. Also, digital painting was chosen over vector illustration to retain a sense of tactility that closely mimics analog drawing methods.
